Remembrance of Things Past

.
Chris Adams: Sussex Captain, until a better offer comes along.

I see that now he’s got a book to flog, Chris Adams has come out with his versions of events surrounds his Yorkshire captain/coach about turn from a couple of winters ago. Interesting reading if you’re into whining self-justification. This bit caught my eye:

“But my plans to bring in two new people were dismissed out of hand. I was expected to say (to the media) how proud I was to be at Yorkshire, when ten minutes earlier they had poured scorn on my plans.”

Two thoughts on this. Firstly, had he never heard of the Yorkshire committee before? Brian Close is the cuddly one. After suggesting they spend money, he was lucky to get out of the committee room with all his fingernails in place.

Secondly, regarding being given suggestions for what to say in his press conference. Here’s a radical, left of centre suggestion that a young ‘think outside the box’ buck might want to ‘take on board’. How about scraping together enough integrity to actually speak for yourself? If he’d done that and I might have an ounce of respect for him.

Si’thee, but hopefully not ‘im, later,

Len

  1. Surely that should be no-Brain Close given his exploits at fielding at extremely and outrageously short leg in the days before helmets?

  2. Noted and corrected, ceci.
